RACE INFORMATION

14th Forest of Dean Trails Half Marathon
Sunday 28th March 2010, 10 a.m. start

Remember the clocks go forward an hour on this day! Strictly no entries on the day

Course
There will be a new race course for 2010, favouring forest trails and avoiding one road crossing. The course also avoids several uphill sections and so should be faster and more exciting than before. The officially-measured half-marathon course (13 miles 192.5 yards) is run on way-marked trails laid out by the Forestry Commission. Special permission has been given to stage the race over this course. A map of the course is available in PDF format.

The course begins at Speech House and then follows the trails in a clockwise direction through the Forest of Dean to return to the finish at Speech House. The multi-terrain route will be fully signed and marshalled, and marked by yellow paint on the ground. Mile-markers are provided. The route generally uses well-maintained tracks with gentle inclines.

The race will be led by lead cyclists. The one road crossings on the route will be controlled by police and marshals. There are three water stations at approximately 5 km intervals, and drinks will be available at the finish.

Safety & medical

Footwear
Road running shoes or trainers are perfectly acceptable. Spikes should not be worn as part of the course includes short road sections.

Your allocated chip must be worn on the shoe. Unique signals from each runner's race chip are used to measure your race times and position. These chips are disposable and are used once only. Recycle bins will be provided at the finish.

Race timing and results

As runners will know from the information in their race pack, chips will be issued on the day of the race from a tent close to the start area. Please make sure you arrive in good time to park and pick up your chip well before the 10:00 start. You will need to show the race number that was enclosed with the race pack - chip and race number must match!

Remember to bring some small safety pins to fix your running number to your vest. If you're stuck, some pins will be available form the T-shirt tent near the finish area.

Results will be available on the day at race HQ, and will be available from the Web site soon thereafter. Timing and results service will be provided by:
